James's Story

Life 2004 I am still in little old Homestead, working all over South Dade as a Fire Fighter for 25 years now, maybe you have seen me on the news and didn't even know it. =) Family crisis have been at the center of life for the past couple of months. It started with Mom going in the Hospital with a diagnosis of Colon Cancer and severe Alzheimer's, and then it progressed to having both parents in the hospital, Dad with Pneumonia. Now Mom is in a Home and Dad is still battling with his lung ailments, the results of his long Fire Fighting career. Being the only sibling still in the area it does keep me busy outside of work. Hopefully things will get better. 2010 Still in Homestead, 31 years with Miami-Dade Fire now, Dad passed away, Mom is still in the home (ACLF) but does not know who anyone is. Three kids and three grand kid...Expand for more

Life is good. =) I only know of a few other classmates still in Homestead and I have no plans on leaving so if any of my old friends are planning on visiting Homestead let me know. 01/2012 My Mother has joined my Father in heaven now, kind of strange having both parents gone. 32 years with the same employer, WOW! If you would have told the 21 year old me that I would be at the same job for 32 years I would have said "yeah right". PS. I still have the 56 Chevy I drove in High School. 08/2018 Retired from the fire department in 2015 after 35 years of service, lots of memories, some I cherish and some I wish I had never experienced. Overall a great career. My oldest brother passed away two months ago, John was also a retired Firefighter. Still in Homestead and no plans to ever leave, I like it here in the Redland.
