James's Story
attended Yale Elementary on the south side of Chicago (1949 grad). Graduated from CVS in 1953, left 73rd and Wentworth for Seattle a month later.Joined the Boeing Co. while still 17, had several positions, left as a preflight electrical specialist in 1958 to join the USAF. Served in Texas at Lakland,Kelly, and Sheppard bases, then moved to Davis-Monthan AFB in 1959. Lived near the Univ. of Ariz. campus, played tennis almost every day and tended to the B-47s at night. Wonderful life as I traveled toHawaii, Guam, Okinawa, Japan, and the Phillipines. Moved to McChord AFB in May, 1960 to help set up a KC-135 tanker squadron. Played tennis with AF teams the next two summers, but had to winter at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks Alaska to make up for summers off. S...Expand for more
uper cold but we did some very interesting work that I still can't talk about. Out of the AF for good in 1965, back at Boeing until 1967, then to Univ of Wash where I got my BA in Educ. in 1970. Taught on Guam for two years, then to the International School of Bangkok where I taught until 2001 when I retired. Moved back to Seattle in early 2008 and hope to stay here for a few years, then maybe return to Thailand where we have a couple homes and a small farm. Hope to hear from some of you that I may have known through the years. One more thing, I did spend some time in East Lansing Mich. where I got my MA in 1979-1980 at Mich. State Univ. Lots of great people I met there also.
