James's Story

Life After HS I headed for Wisconsin 4 wonderful, long, years of higher "learn'n and such". Took my sheepskin and newly acquired art talent to Boston only to find out, work was hard! After a year or so as an Art Director for Container Corporation designing pretty packages for whoever - it was time to start my own firm. Been unemployed/self-employeed for about 40 years and working very hard at it too. Lived outside of Boston in Harvard from '68 to 1991, sold most of the business to my employees and moved the balance to Ft. Lauderdale. I maintain a few clients in the Bahamas, some..remote one internationally and the Eastern United States. Married and divorced along the way. Have two daughters with expensive tastes. I take my Yellow Lab (Kyle) to the office everyday and to most client meetings when he's bored. He doesn't require answers to any questions and he loves my work (always, loves my work!). He never asks to use of my cell phone and I don't ask to eat out of his dish. I split my spare time between finishing a few pieces of art I've started...Expand for more
, writing my next book and trying to figure out the braile on the drive-up ATM's. Living in Ft. Lauderdale has taught me that I don't want to be cold much any more. I can't give up my top down routine and the 5 language barrier between me and the new hires the mail carriers, pool guy, 7-11 clerks, lawn guy, healthcare professionals. Other than that, I do travel some, I do socialize and don't act like a complete shut-in. I do spend time - kicking a couple Model A trucks around town every few days - and enjoy taking them on long weekends to the everglades to find a fish or two. (They do hide from me...but I understand.) So let's here from a few of you out there. We're not getting any younger. There are always enough silver walkers to go around and more becoming available everyday. I know...I just hit one of there drivers...this moring. Might have been two. They usually come in pairs out of our local Grocery. And if you don't get them before they get in there Lincoln Town Cars...you're out of luck...Because Likley...They Will Get You Next! (Jim)
