James's Story
Life
I now live a little north of Columbus, Ohio and, until Sept 2022, I worked as an anesthesiologist at a large hospital (Grant Medical Center) in Columbus. I now work in Muncie, Indiana and commute on weekends. I got my BS in mech eng at MIT in 77, my MS in mech eng at CWRU in Cleve in 79, got married in 78, moved to TX in 79, got divorced in 80 (no kids) got remarried in 81, quit engineering and went to medical school in San Antonio, TX in 87, started anesthesia residency in Youngstown, OH in 92, moved to Kenton. Ohio in 96 where I worked in a very small hospital, moved to New Concord, Ohio in '02, and worked in a small hospital in Cambridge, Ohio for 6 years, and then moved on to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. I have 3 kids. My daughter was born in '82 and did undergrad and dental school at Ohio State. She and her husband have a two and a half year old daughter and live in the UK. ad and med school at Ohio State and family practice residency at Ohio Health, Columbus. He and his wife have an 18 year old step daughter and a 2 year old daughter. My younger son was born in '87, did undergrad at Ohio State and did med school and family practice residency at Indiana University-Indianapolis.
I feel the inevitable march of time. I haven't had any major accidents or illnesses, but remember that 40 lbs. that I lost the summer of '73? Well, I put it all back on plus some. I had surgery on my back in 1993 and 2015 and several orthopedic surgeries on my legs between 2001 and 2021 I wear glasses. My mother died in '89 and my father died in '92. I am saddened by their deaths and the deaths of our classmates that I know about (I only know about 3). I attended and enjoyed the 93 & 98 St. John High School class reunions and am looking forward to the 50th this summer. I have not yet attended any of my college reunions.
