James's Story
A very quick rundown on the passed 29 years...
After leaving good old Newton High, I immediately went to Westmisnster Choir College in Princeton, where I enrolled in a Music Education Major/ Voice Principal program of study. I was only there 3 semesters, however, as I realized that without the ability to read music, I just didn't have the drive and determination to become a music teacher, much less a musician. In high school I always loved singing in the choir, and actually, I didn't sound half bad. Mr. Scott (the choir director) influenced me to apply to his old Alma Mater, and so that's where I went. (In retrospect, I should have listened to Ms. Rohel (or Shroyer) and gone to her Alma Mater as an English Major! ...but... "coulda, shoulda, woulda," ...I didn't.
After leaving Westminster, I moved in with a buddy in Levittown, PA where we lived with his parents, and after a short time, I became "just one of the family." I lived there 7 years, and worked at a movie cinema, where over time, I worked as doorman, projectionist, and assistant manager.
In 1988 I met my former partner, Rich, in Trenton, NJ, and 2 years later we bought a small cape cod in Ewing. We were partnered for 18 years and during that time, I worked as a repair technician for a small company in Ringoes, NJ that mad...Expand for more
e and repaired parts for scientific instruments.
4 years ago, my long relationship with Rich ended, and at present, I am living in Morrisville, PA with a new partner, Mark, and my 14-year-old Cocker-Spaniel, Holly... and 6 cats!
Finally, I just want to say that Mr. Langley and Ms. Jane Shroyer were my favorite teachers "back in the day." Thery were such fine English teachers, and I feel so grateful and indebted to them for my ability to write well, and appreciate great literary skill in others.
Anyway, I hope the years have been good and life has been kind to all of you who may be reading this!
May God bless you all,
(FYI - I'm Spiritual, not Religious per se, but this closing expresses the idea I want to convey :)
