James's Story
I have fond memories of St Simons Catholic School, and looking here still remember many of the graduates of the "Class of 71". Unfortunately my family was so large (9 kids) (typical Catholic Family) that we could not afford to continue there, 7th grade I spent at Nightingale School whith catechism classes Wednesday afternoon <I believe>. In November of 1970 with the potential problems looming at Gage Park High my family upped and moved to Monroe Wisconsin. It was a tough adjustment moving from Chicago to Monroe, a town of 10,000 people. Ended up at Monroe Middle School and graduated Monroe High School.
After everyone left for college I joined the Army, went to the Engineer Training School in Ft Belvoir Va and was trained as drafter (thanks Mr Bartholf), Ended up stationed in Monterey California and married a California girl.Took her to Hawaii for three years stationed in Honolulu Hi, Did my 5 years and went back to Mont...Expand for more
erey California and worked as a Plumbing Engineer for 20 years. Now work for a Salad Processing Company in California but travel the country doing construction management and engineering for food processing facilities.
Still marries to the same girl since 1977, three daughter and one grandchild. Work takes me to Chicago area several times a year so I get up to see the family in Monroe as much as possible.
Update 2014, changed job, now working as estimator,designer, project manager for plumbing company in Watsonville California, about 100 miles south of San Francisco, California. No travel, shorter drive to work and 40 hour week, complete turn around from last 12 years. Oh, and all three daughters married and out of the house.
Update 2017, left the plumbing contractors office and now working for the County of Monterey in the Building Inspection Department as Plans Examiner reviewing plans submitted for building permits.
