James's Story
Life
Moved to London after the seventh grade (1989), and been living in South London ever since. Don't know if any of you guys that knew me remember, but the plan was always to become a doctor. Went to King's College London School for Medicine and Dentistry, and qualified as a doctor in 2000, picking up a BSc along the way. Did a surgical rotation in the South East Thames area and then worked for two years at the Royal London Hospital (the only major trauma centre in London) as a trauma fellow. we had the bombings on Thursday, the Queen came round Friday, and I got married on Saturday (Reina, a respiratory physician I met in medical school).
I'm now a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons and I've started a five year registrar (Higher Surgical Training) program in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery based around the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore.
Reina and I live in a house in Bromley, Kent. We got married in All Soul's Church on Regent Street last year. We try to spend as much time out of England as possible, and most of that time is dedicated to diving (although Reina has been trying to get me to ski more).
