Jan's Story
Life
I have three children - Kim - 32 - who's made me a grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters - Sophia - September 10, 2001 and Isabella - September 12, 2004; Kim does photography, and is married to a Chemistry teacher at Richland High. Ted - 30 is married to Kathleen and has a son.
Catie - my 22 year old is graduating from George Fox University, majoring in Elementary Education, and art, and starts her graduate program at Whitworth College in Spokane in June. Also, June 23, she will be marrying her high school sweetheart - Parker Howell, who is a journalist for the Spokesman Review in Spokane. She has taken Japanese, A/P Calculas and A/P Physics, is in the concert choir, (A smart one!) a 3.5 GPA at that! They are getting smarter than us every year! I am really proud of her!
I recently sold my home in Hillsboro and moved to Vancouver, WA. I got married on March 24th to a wonderful Christian man - James Waddell. We are presently looking for a house in the Vancouver area, since I work in Camas. Jim is a retired Portland Police officer. I decided on the move because Catie no longer needs to be near her childhood friends - they are all scattered and keep in touch via the internet and cell phones - my how technology has changed their lives! So, I moved to Vancouver to get away from Oregon taxes, (especially Mutlnomah Co.). It puts me closer to my 83 year old mom, and my brother, and several friends live near here as well. I'm working in Camas and love the drive up the gorge - it is a breathtaking sight to see Mt. Hood in all it's splendor every day! I'm doing cost accounting - analyzing profit margins and looking for the problem areas...I'm finding that I enjoy doing it!
My sister, Kathleen lives in Rockville MD, and my Brother, John lives in Troutdale, not far from Mom. Uncle Paul Coleman used to live in Troutdale and share land with my Mom. Aunt Scottie passed away 10/02/03, and Uncle Paul moved to College Place earlier this year.
In what little spare time I have,I quilt, crochet, still play the piano. I enjoy bowling and watching the Trailblazers and the Oregon Ducks football, and the Oregon Beavers football. I'm also in the church choir, where I have made some wonderful friends, and the Sunday School Newsletter editor!

School
What do you do when you can't remember many things that happened in school? I've been in contact with Terri Snyder Buxton and Carol Tannich Boulden - what cards they both are! We've been remembering some of the things like our ensemble trips!
Mr. Turner was my favorite teacher, and driver - don't know where he is, or what he is up to.
Gerald Miller was another favorite teacher - I think he's an attorney in Salem?
Working in the Business Office at Laurelwood was the best thing that ever happened to me - it got me started in the same career that I have today. Thank you Mrs. Pifer, Mr. Salsberry, Mrs. Miller and Ms. ?
Biggest crush? That has to be Paul Dassenko! Now isn't that funny! Then, there was Bill, and John, and Travis...and I didn't date any of them!
College
I attended Walla Walla College in 1970-1971 and left to get married to Terry Teske.
In 1982, I started attending Walla Walla Community College, majoring in Accounting.
In 2003, I started attending Linfield College DCE, again, majoring in Accounting. I am currently taking Intermediate Accounting II and History of Religions in America. I actually finished my math courses - all the way through calculus and finite math! I hope to graduate in 2007!
Workplace
I am currently Corporate Controller for Sake'One Corporation. We actually produce a premium rice wine (sake')which is always served cold. Our brands are Momokawa and Moonstone. We have 19 employees and are located in Forest Grove, OR. It is a great place to work!
I've worked in various jobs over the years - from the recent to the past - MTI - I was project coordinator for their installation of 280 entertainment sections in 280 CompUSA stores, in 5 weeks! I also worked for them as a temp. accountant, while their permenant accountant was on maternity leave.
I worked for Russ Wilkinson, CPA - at least three times over the last 18 years. 7 years the first time, 3 the second, and 1 the third - that year I started working out of my home for a company based in Chicago and Mexico. They decided to move their accounting back to Chicago after 3 years, so I had to job hunt. It was wonderful why it lasted, though! I had fun going down to Mexico and staying for a week to two weeks at a time.
