Jan's Story

After graduating high school, I went to nursing school at Bellevue School of Nursing in Manhattan, graduating in 1966. I went on to work as an OR nurse at Bellevue and NYU Medical Center. I subsequently worked in Denver, South FL, Oslo, Los Angeles, Louisville and finally Leesburg ,FL, which is about an hour NW of Orlando. After my first year of working, Sheila Kelleher and I travelled Europe for almost 6 months! It was a wonderful...Expand for more
adventure and I'm so glad I did when I was young! I've been living in Leesburg for over 13 years. I live in a very pleasant manufactured home community. I can walk to the mall, and everything but my doctors are in golf cart range. I play trivia 2-3 nights a week. I'm getting back to doing some creative work. I'm going to do some jewelry. I've bought some supplies for acrylic painting. And I'm also doing some alcohol ink paintings.

Here I am demoing at the "Explore Eustis" event. Sharing tent with Krysta Linea Smith. Villagers arriving by bus loads! We are across from 1896.
I am entering a painting in a local show. It is sponsored by the Leesburg (FL) Artists Assoc. It will be showing for about ten days at the main library. We are only allowed to enter one piece. I believe mine will probably
Alcohol Ink Painting 5"x 7". "Fire Storm". This is actually a smaller portion of a larger painting, which I liked better than the whole. Tried scanning this with the frame and glass, but looked terrible. Same problem with
