Jane's Story
So, here's what's been going on since elementary school (wow, it's been a long time!). I moved w/my dad to Ridgefield after 7th grade. Started 8th grade at Ridgefield Memorial High School because it would've been a bit of a commute back to St. Cecilia's. Middle of 8th grade, moved to Plantation, FL w/my mom. Lived in Plantation/Sunrise, FL til the end of 9th grade & then moved to Miami, FL. Finished high school & got married my senior year. Not what you're thinking, it wasn't a shotgun wedding.
Been married to Mike for 18 years. Yup, do the math. We have 3 amazing sons, who are all teens. Having gotten married young & having children has had its pros & cons, but I wouldn't trade my life. Kids take up a lot of time. Moved to Raleigh, NC in August of 2006 & am loving it. I work in healthcare, not a nurse, but the financial side. It pays to be bilingual (gracias, mami & papi). Have been blessed with a wonderfully supportive hubby, great kids and an amazing career, where I can help people. I, rather the family & I, volunteer quite a bit, both at church & within the Hispanic community. I'm working on making sure there's representation for non-English speaking persons at school meetings & that all documents are translated to the primary languages spoken at home.
That's pretty much it. I've been busy, raising 3 sons, being a wifey, having a career. Now that the boys are older & independent, I've got time for me, well not really for me, but to help others.
