Jane's Story
After 35 years in the Army I finally retired in 2009. I was a Colonel, assigned in Washington, DC., but returned to my roots in CA once I retired. I've come to enjoy the outdoors and took up camping (glamping actually!) and long distance hiking (minimum 100 miles) at the age of 64. I've hiked the Highlands and the John Muir Way in Scotland, the Cotswolds and Isle of Wight in England and the Camino de Santiago in Spain, The Portuguese Way, Way of St. Francis across Italy, ending at the Vatican. Ireland, Mongolia and The Camino de Santiago are still on the horizon. I pretty happy that I can do that! I'm slower, older, and heavier...but what the heck? I'm still moving!

biological grandchildren; Otis (16), Sloane (10), Lyra (10) and Capri is 8. (plus 3 add-ons, Zay (17), Ollie (15) and Izik (10)...all living in CA. After finding myself unexpectedly single again a few years ago, I moved to Vacaville to be closer to my seven grandchildren and my son, Chris. My daughter passed away in 2016 from breast cancer.
For the last 20+ years, my motto was "Crafts, Cookies, and Grandkids". Well, the cookies don't happen much anymore! I occasionally do crafts, but I've become a certified Chocolatier. I enjoy making handcrafted artisan chocolates and treats and turned it into a successful hobby/business. I really am having an awesome time being retired.
