Jane's Story
Life
After graduation from Florida Southern College with a BS in Social Work my husband and I began our family. Melissa was born in 1982 and then Amy in 1984. I worked part time to be able to be with my daughters while they were small. Then we had a surprise; Jennifer was born in 1989 after the doctors told me I wouldn't be able to have any more children. Go figure! Alan and I were divorced when Jennifer was just three years old so I had to find a full time job with benefits. I worked for Time Warner for 8 years. I then married my second husband, Adam in 2001 and went to work for GC Services. I stayed there for three years. I was a department head for a major telecommunications company when I became disabled. My lower spine is deformed and deteriorating and I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. I also have a handful of other diseases and conditions that keep me from working and enjoying a physical life.

nd am still enjoying getting to know them. My oldest brother and I are closer than twins! I keep in touch with my best friend in the entire world, Loretta, who also saved my life, literally, last May.
Disablities can change your life overnight. I went from a successful business executive to watching reruns of ER every morning. I try to keep my mind active and read whatever I can. I get out of the house every few days even if only to ride to the store. My husband deserves the purple heart for all he does for me and the girls. He takes very good care of me. We have a cat named Princess (demon cat!) a rabbit named Rex (the best pet I've ever had) and assorted fish. This isn't the life I thought I would be living, but I'm grateful to be alive. My family is THE most important aspect of my life and always will be. I volulnteer for the Lakeland Police Department as an advocate for the Domestic Abuse Response Team and I am a member of AMVETS Ladies Aux Post 32.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone from the class of '77 who knew me or my family.
