Jane's Story
Life
I am teaching high school classes in the economically poorest city in California. My students are Mexican-American with huge hearts and great brains and much to learn, educationally and culturally. They teach me something new every day.
In my "spare" time, I teach parenting classes for the court system; and I am the chairperson of Desert Valleys Area Team of AFS foreign exchange student program. We host 25 to 40 foreign students each year, and I have nine "adopted children" from all over the world as well as friends from dozens of countries. I am enjoying my "middle years" and could never grow old surrounded by all this youth!

College
I attended Oregon State University for two years and a quarter and then married and transferred to San Diego State University. I hold a bachelor's and a master's from SDSU and now I am a part-time faculty member for my alma-mater.
Workplace
Oh, my! First I was Mom for 15 years. Then I became a teacher, full time. In the "between times" I've sold magazine ads, done census data input, handled computer data for a HUGE track meet called the World Veteran's Championships, worked in a business college, and a few other things I've forgotten about. Along the way I've volunteered with Girl Scouts, church, Child Abuse Prevention Council, and American Field Service student exchange program. I can't say I've ever been bored!!
