Janet's Story

OK, here's a quick trip down memory lane. I moved to Texas in 1978 to go to college. Graduated from Texas A&M University with my first degree in 1981. Married a year later. Moved to Houston. Had my first son, Joshua, in 1987. He's now in college in Colorado and doing excellent! Moved to Austin in 1988. Had my son, Zachary in 1991. He just graduated high school in plans to go to college in California. Graduated with my second degree form the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1998. Yes, I commuted for 2 years. Divorced in 2001. I work as a Respiratory Therapist at Brackenridge Hospital. My dad has been living with us for the last 2 years. He just turned 93! Update 7/9/12. Dad passed away from esophogeal cancer in 2010. My ex-husbance passed away in 2011. Last summer the boys and I took a vacation to Belize and Guatamala. I recommend both if you've never gone. Belize has the most beautiful water I've ever seen. We celebrated Zachary's...Expand for more
20th birthday by diving the Big Blue Hole. Guatamala has colors of green I've never seen before. It was a beautiful country. Josh is scheduled to graduate in December from Fort Lewis College with a a BA in Marketing. He finished his senior Lacrosse season on a high note. The team played very well and went to regionals. They made it to the third round but were finally eliminated. I had the opportunity and enough PTO hours saved to go up to Colorado for his entire season. I rented a condo and had a great time! It went by far too soon. That's my vacation for the year. Zachary finished his sophomore year at San Fransisco State University. He's been except to study Art in Italy for a year. He leaves in August. Looks like mom's going to vacation in Italy next year! I also have a new addition to my household. Hank, an 8 year old yellow lab. He was a rescue dog. He had a little seperation anxiety at first but now has turned out to be one of the best dogs I've ever had.
