Although I grew up in Farmington, MI and my heart is still there in many ways, I moved to California with my family at age 14. I went to high school in Fullerton and college at UC Santa Barbara. There I met my husband, Bill. After I went to grad school at Wharton to get an MBA (following in my father's footsteps), I married Bill Wells in 1978 and we settled in the Los Angeles area. I spent twelve years at the Los Angeles Times in the finance area, doing budgeting, strategic planning, and financial analysis among other things. I loved it. However, when our two girls came along, I took a few years off to be a full-time mom and community volunteer in the Pasadena area, where we live now.
