A talented singer who twice had the honor of singing the National Anthem for Cincinnati Reds baseball games, Smith enjoys lending her time to children's issues and causes. She serves as spokesperson for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Cincinnati and Huntsville and is also an active member of several organizations, including the NAACP, the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
