Janice's Story

Life Married young from college; divorced after 25 years. I have raised and homeschooled two daughters, one of whom is married. The other daughter has gone back to school full time and works part time. I have been back in the work force after 20 years as a stay-at-home mom and volunteering in many organizations. I have rediscovered my love of the arts and have enjoyed being part of a local lapidary group the past few years. Some of my spare time is spent as an 18th century reenactor in drama and dancing. My business venture, designing and crafting 18th century style jewelry, combines many interests and skills. I take off many weekends in the spring through fall, set up a canvas tent, get dressed up in layers of clothing and operate my "shop" in a field somewhere. Candles at night. And ...Expand for more
I never was an outdoor person! See my photos section. Currently my stepdad is living with me at 101 years of age (as of early 2021). My dad died of cancer in 2013 and my mom died of Parkinson’s in 2017. Soon after my stepdad moved in with me he developed dementia and so this is another new job challenge for me as I study as much as I can to learn about dementia so that I can be a good caregiver for him. College Three years at UMass ended when I was married during my junior year and then subsequently moved to upper East Tennessee. One class at East Tennessee State University and then transferred to University of Tennessee/Knoxville in my mid-twenties and studies architecture while starting a family. Almost transferred to a Philadelphia school 25 years ago, but raising a family took priority.
