Janice's Story
I can't say that I ever got along well in school or with the kids I grew up with. I attended Parmalee Elementry all through my young years and then Evergreen Jr, High for a while as well as a year at a private school Humanex Acadamy. I had a few close friends. And both good times and bad, I would imagine that we all could tell stories that we would much rather forget. I Dropped out of High School to attend Warren Tech and there I received my Cook's certificate,in the Resturant Arts Program. I thought I would make a career of it, and I did very well in competition but I had moved in with my boyfriend and left my dreams behind. I took three years to get out of that bad relationship.
I kept on working and found a new boyfriend we bought a house in Denver and it worked for awhile but he would not marry after 6 years, I guess he was afraid of commitment, so I left, during this time I was working as a Corporate Trainer for Old Chicago Restaurants, I traveled and opened restaurants in Lincoln Nebraska and Grand Junction, CO. and I also helped open the Old Chicago Restaurant, that was in Evergreen. I eventually became a Manger there for a couple of years until it was closed in 1997.
It was then I decided to move to Austin, TX. to be closer to my Mother who had moved down 10 years earlier, I thought I would try my hand a being a TEXAN. This is where my life continued and I found I was strugglng heavily with Alcoholism, I finally got sober in 2003, I have thankfully been sober ever since.
Here my life starts a-new, I was briefly engaged to fellow who was also recovering from drugs and a...Expand for more
lcohol but unfortunately he was unable to leave that life behind and so I left and I am on my own. I have been single for a couple years dating here and there and concentrating on getting my own life straight. I must say that I am much happier and healthier than I have been in twenty some odd years. I like who I am and am proud of where I am today. I make life what it is, not the other way around. It's been a time for me to experience new things and new adventures, I went back to school and got my GED in 2003 with Honors and now in 2008 I am back in school to getting a Degree in Office Management.
I still live and work in Austin, if you have ever been here it's a beautiful city, and a GREAT music scene, I have a good job with a International Clinical Research Company. I have family here and I have close friends.
I have been thinking about moving back to my real home Colorado, in the next five years, but life is never what we think it will be and changes from day to day so I keep it in my goals and continue to miss the mountains more and more each day.
This may be more that you wanted or even cared to know about me. But life has such a way of teaching us what is really important, some times it just takes a while to open our eyes and ears to hear and see it... It takes time to forgive and I have learned that what happened to me growing up does not have to effect me for the rest of my life...
If you happen to be someone I grew up with or went to school with, I wish you nothing but peace and many blessings. I hope that your life has been a good one so far...
