Life I was born and raised in a working class family. We lived in the Old Northeast section of Kansas City where I attended Gladstone Elementary and Northeast Junior High School. In 1963, my parents built a house in the country on my grandparents farm where I started my sophomore year at Park Hill H.S. I worked all through high school and continued working after I graduated. I bought a 1965 Poppy Red Mustang that I wished I'd kept; took my portfolio into Hallmark in 1968, had an interview and was hired on-the-spot as a lettering artist while attending Kansas City Art Institute. Made my first 'life error' by getting married in 1969. I only have one child, my daughter who was born in 1971. My father, my rock, passed away in 1980 at the age of 63--way too young. I finally got divorced in 1984; got braces at age 36 (one of the best things I ever did) and bought my first Thunderbird (a candy red 1985 Turbo Coupe) that I wish I'd kept (sounds like a pattern here, doesn't it?). I met and started dating an incredible man in 1984, but about a year after we started dating he was killed in a car accident--that was one of the most difficult times in my life along with losing both my parents.
