Janice's Story

Gosh, where do I start? If you read my timeline then you know that I did not actually graduate but I did get my GED the year I was suppose to graduate. I married at age 15, which I do not suggest that for anyone! A year later I broke the heart of a very loving and dear man. I just was not ready and would not listen to my parents. Then I remarried a year later and that did not last, we had a lot of issues that I just could not work out at the time. His first son was four months old before he seen him. Then we ended up re-marrying since I felt sorry for him and let him see his son, of course that meant I saw him and then we ending up having another son and another divorce. Thankfully I met the love of my life after the last time together. Roger Parker walked into my life and it has not been the same since. The boys were 5 and 2 1/2 yrs old when we married. We only knew each other a little over a month before we married. He is 11 yrs. my senior and had been married three times before me. So I believe the going bet was that we would not make it six months. But we have made it a little longer than that since this time both of us loved the other enough to talk about things and work them out instead of walking away. We agreed from the beginning if either of us were unhappy we would say so and go our separate ways. He was the best person to enter my life. We are not rich, nor will we ever be but we love each other and that is what is takes along with the grace of God. He had to quit work at Bridgestone in LaVergne in 1998 because of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) we had a large home on Southridge in the Boro. We sold and moved to Bedford County where housing, taxes, tags, etc. were less exspensive since I did not work and he had to go on SSDisability before he was 55. Then in Jan. 2000 I got sick and couldn't find out what was wrong with me until August of 2000. I had every test imaginable run, then my DR decided to have a MRI done and there it was. I have Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The DR I went to in Nashville told me I had one of the worse kinds, secondary progressive. When...Expand for more
asked what I should look to within the next few years he said that probably within three years I would be in a wheelchair. I did use a scooter for a while, then gradually I started using a cane or walker. Since about 2005 or 2006 I have been walking without a cane or any support. You see, I found out my oldest son and his wife were going to have twins in early 2004. My husband and I started praying and going to church, I did not drink anything for years alcoholic. We turned our life around and the Lord blessed me. He is still blessing me, but I understand that He can turn it around anytime He takes a notion to do so. Roger has been so good to me, he has taken care of me every way he possibly can. Even though he hurts everyday he makes sure that I am taken care of. He was sent to me from God, we needed each other! But I have gotten to play and be with my girl and boy twin grandchildren since their birth in Jan. 2004, so much more than I ever thought possible. They are my will to live and to walk and God has blessed me so much. My youngest son and his wife have a daughter that will be 4 in Sept., 2011 that I have not got to be with much. She is a red headed beauty. On Feb. 18,2011 they had a son also that I have never seen. But that is not a story for here. So we are both disabled, but we are not going to sit back and worry ourselves do death about what could be, may be or will be. Life is much too short for that kind of negative thinking. Roger's mother is in Assisted Living and turned 95 on May 5th,2011. She is an amazing woman. His dad has been in Heaven since Nov. of 1957. My dad went to Heaven in Jan. of 1994 and my mom went on our 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 6, 2006. I think I have rambled on enough, probably way more than anyone will even read. Just do me a favor, and if you do not have the Lord in your life. Get right with Him before it is too late. I am not a religious fanatic but the people I care about I do not want it to be said that I never mentioned that the Lord will save you from your sins all you have to do is believe and ask him to forgive you.
