Janice's Story
Life
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in November 2007. Worked with abused/battered women, children, teens and men in Houston, Texas, am currently working with Homeland Security at the Sheriff's Department, as well as the Citizen's Emergency Response Team and Airport Security in Reno. I think I'm nuts, but it has been worth it, hard but rewarding going back to school at this late date, should be having fun, right? an do it -- anyone can! But it is tough, graduated with a 4.0 GPA, something I never could accomplish in nursing or high school! Guess age has its advantages. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, yes, I am nuts! The Sheriff's Department could use volunteers for their programs, it is sorely needed so that the law enforcement can do their jobs and the volunteers can be their eyes and ears, there is also Airport Security classes, Railway classes, Citizen's Early Response Team for natural and terrorist disastors.
