Janice's Story
Life
My husband and I met while riding around with a friend. She knew and introduced me to the man who eventually became my husband. We married in 1973 and are still together. He will be retiring August 31, 2004 from the Police Department. 2006 He is now a councilman for the city of Wyandotte.
My Pets
Have a Siberian Husky. She is a great dog except when she sheds her coat twice a year. What a mess!
My Kids
I have two great sons who are the light of my life. My oldest who will be 29 in Nov. of 2004 has spent five years in the navy. He works for the City of Wyandotte now, is married and has given me and my husband an angel of a grandaugher. About a year ago, he and his family bought their first home.
My youngest is 26. He is a plumber, married in August of 2001, and recently purchaced a house. He and his wife just told us that they are expecting a baby in the summer of 2007. Being grandparents is the only part of getting older that makes it worth it.
Allot of my time is spent being grandma to my granddaughter. The greatest job in the world! July 1, 2007 our second grandchild was born. We now have two beautiful granddaughters.
2009 and life is about to get
a little more interesting. My husband and I have a new grandbaby on the way from our youngest son and his wife. This one will make three. My husband is also running for mayor of the city of Wyandotte unopposed, so he will be the new mayor after the election in May. It looks like it is going to be the beginning of a new part of our life. I definitely would not have thought of this back in high school.
7/18/10 Just a little update. Hot as hell outside. Really hate this weather. Thank God for AC. Stayed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in May with my husband and oldest granddaughter. Had a great time. It is now my new favorite place to be. Wish we could live there, but that is not possible. Husband is in his second year as mayor. I now hate the phone which never stops ringing, but he seems to love it. We got a new granddaughter last August, so we now have three. Had a birthday in June. Just can't believe how old I am. Reaching this age was hard to believe back in high school. It seemed so far awa...Expand for more
y then, but the years did fly by. My husband bought me for my birthday a framed autographed picture of Ringo which also includes a pair of his drumsticks that he used at one of his concerts. I was thrilled! This will always be one of my most prized possessions. My oldest son and I go to many concerts together. He and I share a love of a lot of the same music. Going to see Meat Loaf this week. Also going to Las Vegas with my husband, my sister, and her husband in September. This is a little of what is going on in my life. Have to say I was a little surprised that we didn't have a reunion last year. Being forty years, I thought there would be something.
I got an email saying if you were or dated a bad boy to write about it. That seemed to be what I was attracted to in those days. The boys I liked were from River Rouge High School or Ecorse High School. Neither I or my friends cared for any boy at Lourdes. I got my first kiss from a so called bad boy. He was never in any trouble. He was just older and my mother didn't like him, plus he wore all black clothes. Met another bad boy when I was 16. I was crazy about him. We had a off and on thing for about 4 years. He was what I wanted. Black leather jacket, black pants. Beatles boots. and long hair. We finally broke up for good when were 20 years old. because of his drug problem. I met what I thought was a nice boy after the break up. We had a nice summer together. I did find out he was in the Marines and every time he came home on leave, he ended up just staying until the MP's came to get him. I guess he had his problems too. I met my husband after that break up. He was just going in the army. i really didn't like him and he didn't like me. That happened slowly when he came home on leave and writing letters. We got married in 1973 when he came home. He had 9 more months in the army, so we flew to Virginia for those last 9 months the day after we were married.. They were alll bad boys when I met each of them, but I got Joe on the right path. That is all that matters. This past June 2 we were married 41 years. I guess we did good.
