Jan's Story
My Life
After graduation from MCHS, I attended NIACC and received my LPN degree. I worked as an LPN for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Amicare. In 1993, I transferred to Amicare/Mercy Home Care as a Staffing Coordinator for Home Health Aides.
In 1975, I married Don Ehler (MCHS-1969). We were divorced in 2000, but still remain friends. We had 2 great daughters, one in the Huntsville, Alabama area and one in the New Orleans area. We also have four grandchildren in the Huntsville area and 2 granddaughters in the New Orleans area.
In August of 2015, I moved to Toney, Al. and New Orleans to live with my daughters and their families. Grandma is loving all the Huggzz and kisses and is loving spending time with my girls, grandkids, and their famil...Expand for more
ies. In 2020, I moved out of my girls house. For the first time in my life, I am living by myself. And I Love it!!! Needless to say, being independent does alot for one's self-confidence.
In 2002, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I have not been working since April 2006 and am on total Disability, now Social Security, and use a walker. I have a very positive attitude about MS and life in general. I invite any and all questions. Many times, I have felt that the MS has been a blessing in disguise.
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Life is not getting any longer, so enjoy the time to it's fullest. God doesn't give us what we can handle; God helps us handle what we are given.
