Jason's Story
Life
I joined the Navy in 94. Went to boot camp in Chicago, Il. I was stationed on the USS Pioneer in Ingleside, TX. It is a minesweeper. Didn't find any live mines. I traveled all over Europe on the Pioneer: England, Denmark, Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy. It was wonderful. Then I transfered to the USS Guardian stationed in Sasebo, Japan. I was there for a year and a half. We traveled around Japan and South Korea. At that time I was a deck hand. A Boatswains Mate was the rate. Then I got out after 3yrs but then went back in. I became an Air Traffic Controller. My friends, I have the job of a life time. I get paid to talk to airplanes all day. Which is highly sought after at civilian airports making big money. I went to school in Pensacola, Fl. Then I went to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. Spent 3 yrs there. Then I went to the USS John F. Kennedy. While on the Kennedy, we pulled out on sept 11 to do exercises upon watching the event on the tele...Expand for more
vision. We were called to duty protecting D.C. and NYC off the coast. Then we were shipped to the gulf for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Launched some planes, blew up countries. Lots of fun. Visited Turkey, Greece, and Spain again. After that wonderful assignment I came back to NAS Corpus Christi where I am now. If you know about military, I am a first class petty officer, AW/SW. Trying to make chief. I am highly decorated. I have 8yrs until I retire. I got married to my wife Melinda on Jan 23, 1999. We have two kids, Michael 18 and Danielle 11. 5 dogs, 3 cats. My mother still lives in Syracuse along with my step brothers Cory, Wayne Brostek, my stepsister Jennifer. My father and stepmother live in florida along with my brother Brian. My youngest brother Andrew passed away on April 29, 99 in a car accident. That is the last time I have been up in Syracuse. I try to find other people. I found 2 so far. That's about it. email me here if you want to chat.
