Jason's Story
Life
The photographer Alfred Stieglitz said:  I was born in Hoboken. I am an American. Photography is my passion. The search for Truth my obsession. He sounds solid, passionate, strong and true. I want to say these same words today, without doubt. I was born in Pittsburgh. I am an American. Art is my passion. I still search for truth, today, in America.
I have just returned to New York after a three-month residency in Bielefeld, Germany, where I was the first American to be accepted by Artists Unlimited in the 17 years since its inception. My residency culminated in a solo show of new drawings, post-conceptual objects and a series of large-scale paintings.

te an achievement to pull off because The Faculty of Law is a public space and had never displayed art before this time. It took over 9 months of political negotiation to make ÂThis Is 7Â a reality.
Though there is an emphasis on painting in my current work I do not limit myself to this medium. I continue to make detailed studies for unrealized projects that work with simplified commercial aesthetics where the works are a culmination of many direct and indirect observations that have their origins in the media, daily newspaper, and specifically the Âevent-culture we live in today.
I continue to strive to be a passionate, challenging, new American artist. I am asking you to consider your commitment to the future of contemporary art. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Respectfully,
Jason D. Szalla
