Jason's Story
Life
After graduating from Highland, I went to Harding University where I spent 3 years just trying to get out of there. I graduated in 1996 with my Bachelor's in Biology. At that time, I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do, but I knew graduate work was in my future. I went to Fayetteville, where I had good friends anyway, and took a couple of grad courses. I had a good time in Fayetteville. I spent two years there as a bartender in a few different places including Art's Place (now the Gypsy) on the nearly famous Dixon Street. I also did some substitute teaching at Fayetteville High. I wanted to go on with my grad program, but I was primarily interested in Marine Biology. ed my Master's program in the Summer of 1999. Since then I have served as an Instructor of Biology and Natural Sciences at several colleges and universities. I also make it back to Arkansas to serve as a Natural Science faculty member at the Governor's School in the summer.
I moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2004 to complete my Ph.D. requirements at McGill University. I actually managed to complete a second Master's degree in Geoscience from Mississippi State University while working on the Ph.D., and I became Dr. Wiles in 2008. I now live in New York where I'm now a professor in the Biology Department at Syracuse University--Go Orange!
