Jay's Story
Life
Retired in 1999 at 47. Graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in marketing in 73. Worked in outdoor advertising for about 4 years and the went to work for Miller Brewing Co. Spent 12 years working for Miller in 8 different positions across the country(D.C., Los Angeles, Milwaukee, San Francisco, New Orleans among others). Purchased a Miller/Coors beer distributorship in N. W. Louisiana and part of one in Little Rock, Ar. in 1990. Sold my interest in both of these in 1999 and retired. Since that time I have primarily traveled and played. My 7.0 mixed doubles tennis team won the USTA national championship in Orlando several years ago.. Have gotten more involved in tennis and am currently the President of USTA Louisiana, chair the USTA Southern Section Presidents group as well as serve on sectional and national c...Expand for more
ommittees. Tennis is ranked the safest sport during these difficult times. I am very proud of my children (boys 44 and 36, and a daughter 40). 2 of the 3 were valedictorians.
Life is great. Tennis, Golf, Travel and poker are my hobbies. I have 8 grandchildren (4 boys and 4 girls) and spend a lot of time with them. My youngest son is an Emergency Room Physician, my son-n-law, a family physician and my oldest son a division manager for a company handling the gulf coast from Tallahassee to Mobile. Have plenty of time to spend with the kids and grand kids!
. Traveling has been curtailed!(darn covid), but did spent a month in Australia/New Zealand last year and a month in England/Scotland/Ireland the year before, as well as many other trips. have done several trips with friends from Suitland H.S. that I attended before Surrattsville.
