Jay's Story
The one person from my past who I'd most like to hear from is Gene Markgraf, because We were good buddies and in the army together. Another is my best friend from grade school through marriages, Bob Tessmer.
My first job was at Riverivew Gardens Florist and greenhouse, where I got paid 35 cents an hour to transplant seedlings.. What I remember most about it is how wealthy I felt and how much fun it was working at the same place with long time friends from grade school. Bob Tessmer, George Beran and Bob Mooney. l sweetheart, Joanne Michel, in 1959. Later jobs included sorting IBM punch cards at Great Northern RR., accounting dept. work at St. Paul Fire and Marine Ins., Owner operator of a family shoe store in Highland Park, accounting work at Goodwill Industiries in St. Paul. Divorce. Moved to Long Beach CA. Controller at Long Beach Goodwill. Met my husband. Accountant at Long Beach State University. Heart attack in 1990 and retired in 91. Have lived with my husband in the Palm Springs area for the last 22 years. We love it here even though the temps get quite high in the summer. It is a beautiful place to live.
