Jay's Story
Life
I now live in Tampa, FL and have lived here since June of 2002. I love it here and can't imagine living anywhere other than Florida. Other than the occasional hurricane Florida is a great place to live!!!
I married Nataliya in November of 2005. She also is a Realtor and is originally from Ukraine. Although I never was really a foreign language person I have been trying to pick-up Russian and am enjoying that. You can visit our website at Tampa-Executive dot com.

Workplace
I am now a Sr. Manager with Accenture and have been with the company for 10 years. I have been working on the current project for about 2 1/2 years. I am the lead for the Mobile Computing Environment for the US Department of Commerce - Census Bureau - 2010 Decennial Census. This is the first time that handheld computers will be used to capture the household respondent data.
It has definitely been a challenge, starting with a 1 1/2 year pursuit just to win the work. We were finally awarded the contract in April of 2006 and have just gone live with the system for the 2007 Address Canvassing Dress Rehearsal.
I had the opportunity a few months ago to present at the United Nations which was very cool. Everyone in the chamber had their little translator ear-piece on just like in the movies. I also will present next week (May 2007) at the Microsoft Embedded Devel...Expand for more

If you are interested in seeing what we are building you can go to Google and search for the following phrase "United Nations US Census Bureau 2010 Decennial Census Field Data Collection Automation". You will not put in the quotes. The first matching result is for the United Nations Statistics Division. If you click on that it will take you to a page that has a US Census Bureau presentation. My project is creating the software depicted in the presentation.
There has been a lot of press on this lately as we just went live in Fayetteville, NC and Stockton, CA. Accenture is a sub-contractor to Harris Corporation on this and Mike Murray (VP) just briefed a congressional committee on Capitol Hill regarding the program. Obviously there is a lot going on from a "workplace" perspective but it is also rewarding.
