Jay's Story

September - 2007 Life Hello to Any and All, After leaving Palatine, my travels throughout the U.S. have been extensive. And thanks to Uncle Sam, I got the pleasure of experiencing life in the far east. :) I've both loved and lost, and loved and won! I've owned my own businesses, and also risen in both the private and public sectors of the business world. During that time, "I've been up and down, and over and out, and I know one thing", I've somehow persevered! I'm now living in beautiful Oregon, after having been transferred from southern California in 1990 by the corporation I worked for at the time, Mayflower. Recently, I resigned from my position as the executive director for a private non-profit corporation located here in Salem, Oregon. I did that in order to focus on professional business opportunities available to me at the time. The non-profit organization I managed is involved in the provision of multi-family housing here in Oregon for seniors and persons with disabilities. In addition to housing, the organization also provides public transportation service for these same populations, as well as the general public. I've been relatively successful in my professional life having achieved senior level management positions in the private, for-profit sector with major national corporations. Frankly speaking though, I arrived at a point in my life where rising in the corporate world is not an all-consuming passion. I don't enjoy the travel demands nor the corporate...Expand for more
board room political games any longer. I found the mission of the non-profit organization I managed and led, to be far more rewarding and purposeful. In the end though, I chose to leave the non-profit because the business opportunities available to me, were and are to potentially rewarding to ignore. In other words, I had to find a way to survive during retirement. :) Regarding my personal life, sadly my 27 year marriage ended in February of 2005. I got to experience what many in their lives never get to; I was overwhelmingly in-love for 24 of the 27 years we were together. I've been blessed with two wonderful sons. My oldest, Robb, who is 30 years old, recently had a son of his own - Kieran Robert Ronan Lynch. Kieran was born in May of 2006. My youngest T.J. (Timothy John) will be 21 in October. No children on the horizon with him. Being a resident of the pacific northwest, I've taken a strong liking to micro-brewed beers. And, I've even begun to acquire a taste for good wine. No the movie Sideways didn't have anything to do with it. :) For entertainment, I really enjoy taking small mini-vacations to exciting and romantic locations. I recently took up the sport of river rafting and kayaking. I absolutely love it! And of course, Oregon can't be beat when it comes to magnificent rivers, mountains and breathtaking scenery. I could go on, but this whole thing is beginning to sound to self-centered. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Tell me about you life?
