Jay's Story
I graduated in June 1962 while I was still 17. Since I was to young to work in the automobile factories i joined the Army and got stationed on Belle Isle at Nike site next the Coast Guard station. Got married in June of 63 for the first child born in January 64(Jay Roger Sloan Jr). I left the Army in July 65 and started working at Chrysler assembly plant in the Detroit. In 67 I enrolled at Wayne State University College of Engineering on the GI bill and moonlighted as a cab driver. In July of 68, a year after the riots, I received 13 traffic citations. r plant operator. My second child, Warren Randal was born August 69. In January 73 started working for the City of Los Angeles as a power plant operator. In July 76 my daughter Arie Tifarah was born and my third son Jason Rodrick was born in March 78. In June 82 I married my present wife Sharon who helped me raised Arie and Jason through a joint custody agreement with their mother. I have been a Clippers season ticket holder since 88 and actually go to most of the games. Retired from the City of Los Angeles in October 2000. I really like to travel a lot just got back from a 53 day cross country trip in my travel trailer where I was in Detroit for the Memorial Day week.
