Jay's Story

Life i am happy to say that i never got married. there was a time when that might've appealed, but those days are gone, and i am glad i avoided it. it turns out that i am very selfish and...'stuck in my ways'. i live in orange county and get to ride my bike to work here and there around newport harbor. you can take the kid outta morro bay, but you can't take the morro bay outta the kid. i truly treasure being able to get away from the hustle-bustle of SoCal when i can. i gravitate towards peace and quiet on a daily basis. i love going to LA for fun stuff, and have had a chance to travel around the country a fair bit, and really put on my adventurer's cap when i do so, but at home it has to be peaceful. as a navy brat, i grew up in so many places and have lived in a wide variety of spots. this has given me an opportunity to have friends at different places around the country that represent different parts of my life. not to leave anyone out, but from chris 'the crusher' leslie (who won a fight with me in first grade by bending back my finger), to all of my lutz's (lutzii?) in morro bay, to jim 'schneir' king in wilmington "gotcha, hoss!"), to The Sauce in countie l'orange. an old girlfriend showed me the joy of long-haired red weinerdogs in the early 90s. my best friend for 12 years was oscar meyer. he is still my best friend of course, and i miss him terribly. not a day goes by that i don't stop and think about that guy. i now live with a four year-old girl named penny. she is a lot of fun. from the first second i walk in the door when i get home, it is ALL about playing fetch with her non-stop. she looks silly and gets her front feet stomping, so i gladly comply. vacations on the hopper coming up: ecuador (to find a panama hat), scotland (to play golf), bermuda (why not?), alaska (hi, kevin and robbin!), and down to a possible new place to live - new zealand. i researched a new country to live that suits me more (non-aggressive government, a unintrusive government, a freedom-loving place, a lack of christian/mythologist influence in law-making, good weath...Expand for more
er, wide-open spaces, a financial frontier, and friendly people that share my views on key subjects. NZ was the easy winner. i traveled on the north island for a couple of weeks, and found that i really dig the capitol city of wellington and the surrounding area. i hope to be able to live there at least half the time coming up. i have much more in common with them than i do with nebraskans, et al. i really just want to be left alone, doing my own thing, with no one holding anything over my head. for 'funzies', i have taken up mountain biking the past couple of years. i don't like getting in hairy stuff, but still enjoy a 'safe' single-track out in the boonies. i just went irish road bowling in west virginia with my brother (look it up). if i can get in any sort of shape (for you of those that haven't actually seen me in awhile - i am now a HUGE MONSTER), i am considering playing soccer and/or baseball. but WOW - i am really, really out of shape. the scrawny rat version of jay wolfe is LONG GONE, friends. School went to cuesta...just because. gave up running to play golf. passed the PGA's playing ability test prior to UNCW. basically picked UNCW out of a hat. had a good time. apparently got a marketing degree. it was fun being 'exotic'. grades, schmades. Workplace did baseball stats outta school for a few years. was a pharmaceutical engineer during the baseball strike for a bit. was also a marketing manager for a promotions company when The Big Opportunity presented itself in the form of working for the top baseball player representation firm. did that for four seasons, and then moved on to a better situation in the same field. i have been with my current company since 2001, and truly enjoy it. we've got some guys like sabathia, dunn, shawn green, erstad, kazmir, carl crawford, burrell, hafner, vernon wells, brad penny and orlando hudson that we represent. i do contract analysis stuff, arbitration prep, and client recruiting materials. the man behind the man. you know how it goes - "a face for radio". i'm best when kept in a dark closet, spinning my magic.
