Jay's Story
Written June 19, 2012
I am married.
I am a grandfather (two boys and two girls).
I met my wife (Lauri) at Muskegon Community College in 1989.
We were married in 1996 on the M.C.C. campus.
As you can tell, I like to rush into things.
My wife has a daughter (Alicia) from a previous marriage. I adopted her in 1997.
While in high school and college, I went into radio broadcasting for NPR affiliate KLON-FM in Long Beach. I did regular broadcast duties as well as play-by-play announcing for Moore League and Long Beach City College football, basketball, and baseball. I also covered many playoff and championship games. Furthermore, I did some football broadcasts for California State University at Long Beach.
I like sports, reading, movies, fishing, cultural and physical activities.
My father, while alive (he died on my 19th birthday-1975) was a physician.
My mother stayed at home until the children were grown. Occasionally, she would take a college class here and there. My sister and I actually took some college classes with my mother. In her mid 50s my mom received her A.A. in accounting.
My mother died in 1998 after a long debilitating illness.
I spend way too much time on the computer.
I can be serious to irreverent depending on the situation.
