JayLynne's Story

Life After school joined Army. Went to So Carolina for Basic. The on to Presidio of Monterey in CA. Met husband. Spoke some Polish, drove jeeps and duece and a half ton and 5 ton trucks.Got out of military, so to speak. Spent 3 years in Canal Zone in Panama durung treaty negotiations, moved to Maryland where my Daughter, was born, then to Arizona where my son was born. Left then for Alabama and husband's flight school experience. To Germany, back to Ft Benning GA, for a stint with the School of the Americas, then to Mexico City where my husband taught English at their War College, back to Ft Campbell, KY for a time was Exec Officer's wife and finally to Guatemala and the Embassy there. We finally retired here in FL. Wheww Nufsaid New stuff: Have Lived the last 17 years here outside Kennedy Space Center. I have worked as a manager at a local Mc Donalds, done semi management at Circle K and survived both. I have been through 3 separate hernia surgeries (which I don't recommend if you can avoid it) and rode out all hurricanes except one in 98 here at the house with no problems-knock on wood. My son who was in the Navy came home from Iraq and has married his sweetheart and my daughter finally got her BA in elementary education.. I don't work still, because they won't let me lift anything over 20lbs and my husband has an awkward work schedule so if I did work we'd never see each other, so now I stay and home and try to keep busy. I have my metaphysical studies, I am finally working on an Associates Degree, and I am trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up (still woking on that one). Changed couse, no schooll; now have own business and getting it off the ground. If you plan to visit the Space Coast drop me a line and mayhap I can give you some pointers on what to see. School Oh I had several crushes but I'm not saying who. My favorite teachers were Bro Elmont, Clive Despain, Roxanne Jensen, and Mrs. C. Least favorite were Larry Palmer, Barbara Bown and Saundra Bastian. Oh yeh and Milton Christiansen. If any of the 74 basketball team ever read this, I know who toilet papered Bra...Expand for more
d Duffin's truck the Halloween of 73 and left the roll on the Rosenval porch. I also know who provided the sack of Halloween candy you guys got in Bro. Stokes seminary class that next day. For all the girls who made fun of the way I used to run in elementry school (on the ball of my feet) or tippy toe as you used to giggle. I am laughing now, if you watch all the top running sprinters they run on the balls of their feet not completely flatfooted like you folks did. HA HA. Just to let you know that not being part of the "popular" crowd did have some advantages, we did not end up in the big ditch on G-Day and being in the background taught us it was better to be the power behind the throne than the one sitting on it (less dangerous that way) If I had the chance to do it all over again I probably would, because growing up in that environment has given me a special perspective to help other people and children who are going through the same difficulties as I did. I can tell them been there, done that and have come out the other side and so can they. My life has been full, profitable and thoroughly enjoyable. Hope to have many more long years to enjoy it. Military Joined in 74 and got out. Sort of, spent the next 20 years following the drum. I ended up with a series of interesting job because of my husband's militray career. I got to spend time in Panama during treaty negotiations-I got a very interesting point of view things at that time. When other wives were chitchatting about what thier husband's did I got some strange looks when I said I didn't know what mine did(I really did-just not specifics) until I explained he worked Military Intelligence and worked in the building surrouned by bobwire. When My husband became an officer I got a whole new genre of jobs, suddenly I was in charge of the wive's groups in most places we went. Even became Capt of the bowling team and secretary/treasurer for a family support group. Most interesting was the President of the the club for the Embassy in Guatemala. Luckily since retirement I now only have to deal with fraternal organizations and thier politics.
