Jayme's Story
Life
It's been a little while since I've updated this. I'm still working and volunteering at my church. Over the last three years, I've done quite a bit. In 2005, I went to Florida for an open audition at WDW. I went to Tennessee for camp, and then moved my sister Jessie out to Tulsa, OK. I also auditioned for a TV show called "Gospel Dream 2005". I'm making a small name for myself singing at weddings at church, and I'm thinking of talking to them and making me part of the package :) I took some time off from youth ministry, and now I'm back working with a different group of students. I traveled with a music team in 2004, and we also recorded an album. Since then, I've done a couple spots on a couple albums for John the Baptist and the CSGz, which are Christian hip hop acts. I currently work for a missions organization, MRN, and we have missionaries in Bosnia, Croatia, Siberia, and now Africa. Over the last few years, I've learned a lot, but now I'm getting restless to move on. So, we'll see what God has in store for me.
School
Wow... high school. It's all a blur now... but I do remember how much people made such a difference then. If I could go back, I would be more appreciative of people like Mrs. Ranger, Mr. Winter, and Dr. Carter. I'd tell Coach Farmer how much I loved his history class. I'd tell Mrs. Plummer how she helped me realize part of who I am through Chorus. I'd hug Mrs. G and tell her how much I love drama because she showed me how great it could be.
I'd also be more open to trying new things. I would play sport...Expand for more
s. I would learn multiple different languages. I would do all I could to live it up and experience high school in all kinds of ways.
College
College was an interesting time for me. I really found myself during those years. At KSU, I learned a lot, but lacked in the area of friends to hang with around town. When I moved to TFC, there was a huge difference. Choir, drama, living in a dorm with roommates, becoming an RA, working on campus, getting involved at a local church, talking to people from all over the world, creating lasting friendships... that is the college experience I love to remember. I think the most poignant time at TFC was the beginning of my senior year. I was a brand new RA. I had been on campus for the whole summer working, and I missed the family trek to NY that year. I was about to start a semester of 18 hours, singing, church work, and volunteering for events around campus. And that first week, my great grandmother died. The last time I'd seen her was a year before. I didn't leave school; I had too much responsibility. The amazing part... my friends rallied around me like family. The support and love that came from them blew me away, and even after graduation, they're the people I talk to and get advice from pretty regularly. It was a hard time, and they helped pull me through. That's what college is about: those people that make a difference in your life. The ones that share your joy and pain, and smile while they do. It's about people helping others find their way in life. Thank you for everything, TFC.
