Jayne's Story
Life
A year after high school I moved to center city Philadelphia to attend the University of the Arts where I graduated in 1987 with a BFA in Graphic Design. I had a design job in the city 6 months before I graduated, so decided to stay (and not move home). I met my future husband around that time - he was a roadie for Electric Factory Concerts. We moved out to the burbs' together in 1989 and were eventually married memorial day weekend, 1990. Our first child was born in November 1991 (a daughter Lauren), the second came in March 1994 (a son Danny) and my youngest was born in April 1999 (another son Jesse). While my first two kids were young, I worked from home as a freelance graphic designer. Once the oldest was ready for kindergarten, I decided to jump back into the work force as an art director at a biomaterials company in Malvern, PA where I worked for 8 years. Wanting to get out of corporate and into a more creative, studio environment I worked as an art director at Miller Designworks doing graphic design for clients such as SunGard, CertainTeed, J&J, and many other local businesses. Recently I've join...Expand for more
ed SunGard to build a new in-house art department for the Americas. My career path and responsibilities have been growing as rapidly as my children. Each getting better and more established with each passing day.
Family is great! My daughter Lauren just turned 16 and will be driving soon (unfortunately she inherited my "energy" gene and likes to have fun). She has lots of friends and is a cheerleader at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. My son Danny is a "skater" boy and often likes to hang out with his friends and his uncle in NYC. And, my youngest Jesse is just downright brilliant (no idea where he gets it).
My husband Robert and I will be celebrating 21 years together (18 married) this memorial day and couldn't be happier. I was very, very lucky to have married my best friend.
Well, some things never change.. I'm still a "bug-drivin' artist" (I just bought a new VW beetle 5-speed convertible - and love it)! Must be some kind of mid-life crisis or something. Only thing different about me since high school is I have a husband, 3 kids, a great career, and I haven't had a drink since 1998! Shocker huh?
