Jean's Story
Life
LetÂs see....itÂs been an unbelievable 14 years since we graduated. IÂve done a lot in that time, including getting married, graduating from 2 universities, and having a baby.
IÂm sure you can guess who I married. Yes, thatÂs right: my high school sweet heart, Mark Juliano. WeÂve been together now for 15 years, and married for 10. We got married on Nov. 6, 1993 in Cocoa Beach.
We graduated together from UCF in May of 1994, Mark with a BS degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Computer Science, and me with a BA degree in Psychology. Later that year we had the opportunity to visit Germany for 2 weeks since MarkÂs company sent him there on business. We had a blast, and hope to return someday soon.
I worked as a teller at the First Union bank inside Universal Studios for three out of the four years at UCF. I can honestly say that was the most fun IÂve ever had working! I was able to use the park whenever I wanted, including bringing in friends and family. In the summer of 1995 Mark and I decided to leave Orlando and move up here to the Atlanta area  Alpharetta to be exact. I had transferred up with First Union, but soon decided to go back to school full time to work on a degree in nursing. Mark, too, returned to school, working on an MBA degree. While attending Kennesaw State University, we moved from Alpharetta to Dallas (GA) into a house. We liked how quiet and peaceful it was out there, but we were so far out in the country we soon began to dislike our long commutes.
Mark and I graduated together again for the 3rd time in Dec. 1998 from Kennesaw State University. I have worked in many areas of nursing since graduating with my BSN. I started working as a floor nurse at Cobb Hospital  that is, until I broke my ankle walking my dog in the rain. I had to take several months off (canÂt be a floor nurse on crutches!), and had the opportunity to transfer to Kennestone HospitalÂs IV...Expand for more
Therapy team instead of returning to Cobb. I liked that job very much, but not the 3-11 shift, so I hired on working 7-3 with an out-patient surgery center in Sept. of 2000, shortly after my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. We found out we were expecting again in Jan. 2001, and welcomed Alexander Quinn Juliano into the world on Sept. 18th. I actually almost delivered on that first Sept. 11th, when I was watching the Âbreaking news on CNN instead of where I was going and fell down about 5 stairs in my living room. Fortunately, Alex decided to wait a week to be born. IÂm glad; I wouldnÂt want him to have a Sept. 11th birthday.
After Alex was born, I returned to work at the out-patient surgery center working every Thursday, when Mark telecommutes to work and can be home to watch Alex.
We soon began to outgrow our little house out in Dallas, and casually started to look for something bigger  one of our main goals was to shorten our commute. Mark works as a Senior UNIX Engineer at AutoTrader.com (IÂm sure youÂve seen the commercials where the cars Âflip out of the floor), which is 5 minutes from where I work. The problem was our commute was an hour to an hour and a half each way, which got old really quickly. We found another house and finally moved this past January to Marietta, where our commute is down to a wonderful 30 minutes each way.
Well, in a nutshell, thatÂs what IÂve been doing for the past 14 years my life.
Oh! I almost forgot to tell you about our other Âchildren. We have 2 dogs and a cat. After we moved to Alpharetta we adopted Snow White  yes, you guessed it: an all-white cat. Later on, after we moved out to Dallas, we adopted Wags  a black lab mix  and Bailey  a golden retriever. ÂOur girls are truly cherished family members.
Well, IÂm looking forward to reading what the rest of you have been doing all these years. Take care and keep in touch!
