Jeanlyn's Story

Life I married Tom Florer (Manuel Arts 60's Grad ) in 1962 and a mother at 18, to a baby Girl. I went to work when she was 3 months old, 1963 and didnt stop until 1970, at that time in banking, savings, loans and Ins. depts.. Returned to work in 1977, until retired. I worked for the USPO for a short time, with a variety of export/import, Freight Forwarding companies, shipping Internationally to every port of call available, unless at war or issues with the port. I learned about the world with these shipments, letters of credit with foreign banks, and dealt with many consulates. This being the longest of my career, even worked out of the home, with my own accounts. Later in 1994 with a Tax Co., I had many interesting times through out my career. Many a Steamship party, on board a vessel going out with my packed containers. I shipped ice core from Anartica, for National Science Foundation. veg. and flowers seeds, Spiritual books, Statues, and mainly Allergan Pharmaceuticals all over the world. Loved every stressful minute, but not the 80 mile round trip to work, that started in 80's, on that 405 freeway. I volunteered also for the VA, and worked the 1990 census. I divorced in 1966, remarried in 70, had my son in 1971, 4th of July. I have lived in Florida and CA. I have 3 grandchildren, 2 girls and a boy, 96 was first one, darling girl. born with 4 holes in her we heart, and open heart surgery at 4 months old, ( All Thanks to "All Children's Hospital and Ronald Mc Donald House in St. Pete, Fl. ) In 2001 and 2002, two more grandchildren 17 months apart, I love them so much, so thankful for them, and for being a Grandma. I have a step Grandson, grown, works for Fl. Electric Co. I have traveled to many states of the USA, Europe, Hawaii and spent 2 months in Chile, SA, also to the the tip of South America. Would love to travel more. I feel I had an interesting life, and plan on continuing to have the same. I'm in good health, could loose a few lbs, I have to say I don't care for for the aging process, but have accepted the fact I can't do anything about it. HaHa. I survived Breast Cancer in 2011/12, chemo and radiation. Im a survivor in the life time. I have a lot of friends from grade school, Jr High, and Hs still in my life, and have made many new ones along the way. I cherish them all. I have been single since 1977, had some long term relationships since. Lost my Mom in 2003, at 97 years, my Dad a lot earlier in 83, at 81 years. I do miss them very much. Lost 4 good friends I had for over 30 years in 6 years, 2 of cancer. Died to young, I do miss them also. School I had great times in school, I have many fond memories. I still have a lot of friends from school, we are soon to celebrate our 60th, Bd's. (which we did, at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Polo lounge, Limo, fine dinning with all the trimming's for weekend, was wonderful fun (2004) Many came to my 50th party, and we share many good times, our families, as well as Grandchildren. I have attended almost all the reunions, and I look foward to the next, which is the 50th, hard to believe that.!. I really love and enjoy my long time friends, and so happy to have them in my life. College I married young, therefore didn't get a chance for college until 1972, when my son was one. Prior was only variety of nite classes, then I went to El Camino Jr. College, majored in Art and the Arts. Also other classes at Cypress Community College, in 1981 and PHCC in Fl, in 1998, and I loved them all. I would go again now, if something close to me. I did not go to graduate with degree, I went to just enjoy, my major at the time was a mother and wife, then a single mother. Priorities change. Im glad I had the opportunity, and enjoyed all the activities. I take monthly Art classes now, and have for several years. My passion. I was in two 10K's, one in Europe. Going to be in a Relay for life April 2012. I currently live in Florida, worked the elections in 2008, 09 and 10,12 and will so on, planned on working the census in 2010. (They didn't need me) I now 2010, Volunteer at a major hospital weekly, in patient care on the ICU heart floor, and really enjoy it. I have met many nice people there. (I had to stop because of cancer) I do want to give back, and if a VA was near me, I would be there too. God Bless these men and women for there sacrifices.... I have plans to attend the 2012 "50th" reunion with many friends, and really look fwd to going back to CA for visit and seeing all family and friends. I didnt make the reunion but hope there is a 55th, and plan a visit soon to CA. I saw all the pictures online and it was great to see people. My son in law was in Afghanstan in 2005 for over a year and just returning from I...Expand for more

Also works part time at home depot. They have just bought a sail boat, 2012. Hard tobelieve my daughter will be 50. My daughter did well for over a year both times, raising their family, 2 children and running the home, I know I raised a strong woman, wife and mother. Im proud of her and of that. Im also proud of my son, he works very hard supporting his family, was in bad motorcycle accident in 1993, lucky to be alive, continued to drag race for a while, won many a race with awards and money. Rides ATV's, all his family does, has 3 aces, 5 dogs, rabbit, cat, and pony. (had a pig) Loves his tractor, his Ram (dooly,) and is a very good daddy, which again I feel like I raised a great son. Im taking the credit... His wife works hard as well, in banking. Granddaughter has annual heart check ups, all is good. Had stint repair and valve looked at in 2012. She is now a teenager, loves her dogs, and all animals, has braces, and taller then I. 2010 she was in the paper for getting the most money for the Amer.Heart Assoc. at her school. Other 2 are on honor rolls, in GS, sports and plays and dance. * Granddaughter now 16, has some leakage in heart will have it checked out more april 2012. Son in law will get his BS mid APril 2012, going for his masters. My Granddaughter rides the bus from school to my place almost daily, and I enjoy being part of her life. My daughter is now in Fl. so all my immediate family is at least in one state now. Prior my son and family were Fl. and daughter/family and I, were in Ca. We all do many things together. I do miss my friends a lot, thankfully we talk and email regularly. Only a hand full in Florida, not the same as ones you grew up with. Addition: Survivor of breast cancer, unfortunately due to this I will miss 50th HS reunion in CA this July,2012. I do miss my many friends who are mostly all in CA. I am now having radiation (4-2012) Working all elections 2012. Have two cats, Garfield and Stretch. I' m hanging in there. I enjoy Games on classmates,(they took out the games URR) love many TV shows. New ones Awake, Missing, Persons of Interest..I am a faithful watcher of Survivor, Amazing Race and Celebrity Apprentise, and Project runway. American Idol and DWS. And the Bachelorette or Bachelor. I had to stop volunteering at local hospital, between my health and gas prices, 50 miles round trip, I just couldn't do it. But looking into something else, maybe even American Cancer Org. Hope all is well with all of you. Best regards,Jeanie I always wanted to work for FBI when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a nutty idea. As it turns out, they were WRONG. HANG OUT AT THE BEACH, OCEAN, LAKES, RIVERS. SWIM, READ, DINE, MOVIES, WALK, RIDE BIKE, LAUGH, SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY If I won $100 million, I'd give 25 MIL to the STARVING children, and other charites of my choice, then spend the rest on GRANDKIDS, FAMILY and FRIENDS. BUY A HOME ON THE BEACH AND AN ISLAND, TRAVEL ALL OVER HE WORLD. Drive a nice comvertable car. My current age is 68. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be very old and wrinkled. I was so completely right. HaHa. My best friends would tell you I'm a great friend, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet, shy, and private.. oh yes, I sure miss the bell bottoms. Hip huggers, and hot pants, would not be caught dead in them now. I share my home with two cats, which I find so loving, fun and nosey. My Piano trophies, sons sports and drag racing wins/trophies, daughters beauty trophies and medical tech certificate. Grandsons sports and beauty, Granddaughters sports and beauty. Son in laws, 10K, LA Marathon, and surf trophies. In 10 years, I hope to be still alive and well. I'm going to get there by taking care of myself and others..and that Im able to travel more. My first job was at a bank, where I got paid well to handle money. What I remember most about it is, I learned a lot for life, I made some long term friends, and supported myself and children as a single parent when that time came.. Unfortunately it was the funeral of my Aunt, at 8 years old. On a lighter note, I loved our family summers at the beach in Oceanside, and other place's we traveled too. Childhood innocence and freedom of worry. I think the 50's were the best in the USA. 2016 5 year survivor of breast cancer, unfortunately my daughter has it now. We do the cancer relays annually. Grandkids growing up fast, Grandson 14 and 5''11" PROUD of my family. 72 now, healthy, both x husbands gone, and some friends too young.
