Jean-Pierre's Story

Life has definitely been a stimulating adventure: Left SF and NB area in '73 (after 4 years with DuPont)in my MGB for BC where I put more time in writing poetry, and then doing environmental work with asbestos mining and pulp and paper. Left BC for Quebec City in '76, and then spent '77 traveling (backpacking) Central and South America - Mexico to Bolivia and Chile. Spent some time in Saskatchewan, in Outlook while operating a cubing plant for an alfalfa co-op, the at Lake Waskesu building the launching area to Grey Owl's cabin. Returned to BC in '79, and worked "herring roe" in Tofino and Ucluelet; then went north to PrinceRupert and did social work as team leader for Project Sea Adventure, a development project for "at-risk-youths" - got fired for "philosophical" reasons: kids were great, we made advances, administration was bureaucratic and close-minded; next worked for the Coast Guard out of Prince Rupert (Triple Island Lighthouse - 4 weeks on with 4 weeks off for 10 years)and Terrace, BC school district (substitute:mostly FrImmersion, but everything else including shops) for 10 yrs while building a 46' offshore sailboat which launched in '98 and featured in Nau...Expand for more
tica commercial airing on Monday Night Football in autumn 2000. Sailed single-handed and chartered from Alaska to Mexico until 2001. I have one son (born 1988) who has traveled almost more than me already, living and playing music in Vancouver and who is also my pride and joy.(Last year we did our longest road trip together: Reno, Nv to Managua, Nicaragua. I am presently involved in theme driven graphic arts project for garments (RavenFashions) and art furniture(RavensArt) - the effort now is to get the collection ready for Premier showcase at the time of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Residing in Lake Tahoe/Reno area, on and off, because I still have not given up my "day job" as fine woodworker. Usually away for the winter, in a place where there is NO snow and where I can in-line skate in the morning before getting back to work on my Raven project. {More of this is explained at:.....well, THEY just don't let you put links on here do they...check me out on facebook, or follow the clues given above. Addendum: finally, RavensArtwear is ready to launch - mixed media with stories in verse based on raven theme. view the project "Ravens Artwear" at Kickstarter.
