Jean's Story

I've been moderately busy since High School, especially after leaving Upstate NY after college to join the Army--I served over 21 years, both on Active Duty and in the Reserves. Some of you probably know that my parents passed on in the mid-80's, and so I get back to Upstate New York only occasionally. I visited Endwell and SUNY Cortland in July, 2007, so I could attend my sorority reunion at SUNY Cortland. I hope to reconnect with my high school friends one of these days when there's another reunion. I don't recall hearing of one in either 2003 or 2008--maybe our class needs to buddy up with the '72s the next time around! As I've mentioned before, I returned to school starting in 2004 in order to transition into a scientific career. After completing most of the prerequisites at a local community college, I moved from Newport News to Norfolk and transferred to Old Dominion University last summer. If all goes well, and I don't burn out with all the schooling, I'll earn a BS in Medical Technology by May, 2009. Even though I consider the Hampton Roads area home now, I still have fond memories of Endwell and of growing up right...Expand for more
smack dab in the middle of the Baby Boom Generation. I think we were very blessed to have grown up when we did, and I think that the high school and college students now have had a more difficult time than we did maturing and transitioning to adulthood. That said, *I* sometimes can't believe I'm technically *middle-aged,* even though I just turned 52 in June--I certainly don't feel that old, and more often than not, I feel and act much younger! I'm also continuing to get in better shape than previously. I'm doing my best to keep up a consistent running program and will be running the local 5K and 10K races like previously. My school schedule interferes with my training more than I would like, and most weeks I'm lucky to run/walk three days a week. That said, doing *something* is better than just sitting around! It's too bad we didn't have a 30th high school reunion a few years back--we really need get together again one of these days before we're too old to recognize one another! Keep me in the loop for whatever comes about, and I hope to hear from those of you who linger here long enough to read my bio. Don't be a stranger...
