Jeanne's Story
Life
Since my divorce in 1981 from Rabbi Dr. Sim Goldman (Supreme Court Yarmulke case), I returned to my maiden name - Jeanne Litvin. I was married in 1990 to Rabbi Mel Teitelbaum, Esq. but still retained the name Jeanne Litvin. I kept the name Litvin to try to perpetuate the memory of what my grandfather, Baruch Litvin, a layman from a hick town, Mt. Clemens, Michigan, did for Yiddishkeit. He was the "lone warrior" that fought the shul members - all the way up to the Supreme Court of Michigan (1959-60). I re-edited his sefer on Mechitzah - "The Sanctity of the Synagogue," which is...Expand for more
still the only sefer in existence on the subject of Mechitzah. There are 100 new pages with all the teshuvos from Rabbi Moshe Feinstein translated, stories of shuls inspired by the court case of the original sefer or my grandfathers travels to shuls across the U.S. to put in or raise mechitzos.
I've lived in Los Angeles in 1977. Since 1987, I've been the West Coast Editor of The Jewish Press. My husband and I operate Resort Classics a company that runs Passover Programs in resorts since 1989. We have triplets aged 11 1/2. From my first marriage, I also have 3 grown children.
