Jeannette's Story
Life
After highschool I attended the U of S (briefly!) as many of you did in hopes of figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up! However, it didn't take me long to decide that I didn't want to grow up at all! So I took a job as a nanny, and thoroughly enjoyed that for several years. I eventually went back to school to take Dental Assisting, and immediately moved west to Calgary to find a career and love...if it should strike! And it did indeed! I eventually hooked up with a cowboy (Pro Rodeo Steer Wrestler) and we bought a 1/4 section (160 acres)of land in the foothills of southern Alberta, about 10km south of High River. It is a beautiful piece of land with an amazing view of the mountains. We farm alfalfa hay for cattle feed, which is a risky business these days with the whole mad cow crisis going on. So back your beef and keep us in business! We hope to expand our operation to include breeding rodeo stock as well. So I guess you could call me a farmer! However, my real life dream came true in June of 2002 when my son Harrison Michael was born, on Father's Day! (I ...Expand for more
thought that was pretty nice of me!) I am now a stay at home mom to him, which keeps me busy! All those years of being a nanny never could have prepared me for the reality of being his mom!!! He's a wild cowboy! He is a real dare devil and has earned the nickname Hurricane Harrison for a good reason! He is a fast and furious bundle of energy, that keeps me running from morning until night! He is a beautiful strawberry blond, blue eyed cutie, who looks exactly like me! (who'd have guessed?!) He also has quite the temper and a bit of that fiesty redhead attitude I'm afraid! (wonder where he got that?!) He has taken up downhill skiing, where only the mountains will do now! He races down the hill as fast as he can, with no concern about the fact that he doesn't yet know how to stop at the bottom! I need nerves of steel for this kid! He's already talking about how he wants to ride sheep in the rodeo! Be watching for the Hurricane in about 15 years on the National Ski Team and/or at a rodeo near you...where you can say you went to school with that wild and wooly kid's mother!!!!
