Jeannie's Story
College
I think that I have never left school. After college, I taught high school which meant that I was still in school. I was continually taking classes to improve my skills. Now, I have chosen to go back to school and get my D.O.
My strongest memory in undergrad was setting a large container of sodium hydroxide of hydrochloric acid on fire. Actually it was the hydrogen gas that was being produced that was burning. However, no faculty was around and it was about 8 pm (I was the lab assistant and waiting for the students making up the lab to finish). We were waiting for it blow up.
Now, I never remember working as hard in undergrad or grad school as I do in medical school. I have spent more days sleep deprived because I have spend several nights up trying to learn what e...Expand for more
verything that can be on an upcoming test. I have never worked so hard to be in the middle of the pack. I have never been so excited to earn a B in a class that I have spent hours upon hours studying for. I survived by telling myself that it would be worth it in the long run. Then, I got to third and forth years of medical school and realized that I still have no clue.
Well, I have now survived all 4 years of medical school, and I still don't feel like I know enough to be treating patients. But, I will starting on July 1, 2007. Residency awaits. Family medicine Now, that is not what I thought that I always wanted to do, but it fits.
Workplace
After many years teaching, I am beginning my internship/residency in Cleveland, OH. I will be starting a family medicine program.
