Jeff's Story

Life I joined the navy 5 days after graduation and spent the next 20 years traveling around the world. While in the navy my career field was in Intelligence specifically in Satellite Imagery. I participated in a bunch of military stuff including desert storm. I retired from the navy on May 30th 1999. I married Jan Layton, she graduated with us. Her family moved to Cottonwood from Idaho our senior year. We have been married now 31 years. We have four children, Carolyne (29), Jessica (27), John Mike (25)and Haly (17); two son-in-law and 2 grandsons and 2 grand daughter. My home is in Fallon Nevada. I work for Lockheed Martin Corporation as the site manager and senior engineer. In the past five years I finished my MBA (Business Psychology) at the University of Georgia. I have taken up a new hobby, well kinda of old hobby passed from my mom down to me. I love to do research in geneology. It is very tedious and frustrating at best but can be rewarding. I have gathered around 20 generations of Ancestor. So I guess the biggest news from our family is that our baby daughter Haly, was diagnosed with lukemia on Aug 26, 2009. After 43 days and remission she passed away due to complications. She could not beat a fungal infection in her lungs called aspergillious. She died on Oct 13, 2009 at 7:40am. My wife was with her, and held her until her heart stopped. I was flying back to Salt Lake City from Reno when she died. Our family sure does miss her. Our son Michael got married to one of our daughters best friends on September 3rd, 2011. Her name is Aubrey Lynn Wood. She is sweetheart and we lover her very much. e to say except I will be 52 in September and life goes on. We (my wife and I) hope to someday retire. I would like to do some traveling like grandparents are suppose to do. We do enjoy living in Northern Nevada some of the places here remind me of the Verde Valley. . I always wanted to be a Archeologist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a lame idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. My hero is my Daughter Halycon. After all the pain of cancer treatment before her death, she only thought of her mother and family. She hoped they would not worry and be sad, because she knew she was not coming home, but would be with us always in our hearts The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is John Snickers, because we were fishing, hiking and camping buds. We also like to hunt some too.. I love to hunt Upland game birds using my Springer Spaniel as my hunting companion. Patience My current age is 51. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be older. I was so completely wrong. My best friend would tell you I'm honest, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as friendly. Guess so I still wear blue jeans and pull over polo shirts. But I do own two suits and can dress to the occasion if necessary. I share my home with Jan my wife, which I find totally sexy. My trophies are the pictures of my kids and their families. In 10 years, I hope to be in arizona. I'm going to get there by retiring. My first job was at the Hitching Post Restruant, where I got paid $2.25 to Wash dishes. What I remember most about it is good food. Running wild and free on the Verde River.
