Jeff's Story
Life
I m pretty much leading a regular life in North Carolina. I teach during the day, play sports or hang out with my dog in the evenings. I don't cook, I eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cereal at home, and I try to eat even healthier when I go out. In my free time, I like to listen to local bands either here or in Atlanta.
I was married for a while way back when, that didn t work out, so I ve kind of adjusted to a non married lifestyle. From high school, I see Mike Iiams from time to time, who lives in Seattle, and I keep in touch with our Spanish exchange student, Eduardo Moga, who lives in Spain. I used to see Clark Head (Cl' 82) some before I left Atlanta several years back, and I still see John Gordon (Cl' 81), who lives in Ellijay.
College
Ga. Southern in 1980. I roomed with Joe Cronk. Ga. Southern started a football team in '81. When they failed to offer me a football scholarship, I left for UGA where I graduated in '85. I lived with Russell Kaye the first year, then we kind of lost touch. I used to go to concerts by The Legion with David Barbe, Alex Marquez, Stuart Mills, and Kelly Williams back in the day. I still ...Expand for more
go back to Athens when I can, but I don't know any people there now.
Workplace
I worked as a CPA for several companies in Atlanta and in North Georgia before deciding to go into teaching. I still mess around in accounting for fun, but I guess that part of my life is pretty much history.
I guess I got into teaching because two of the greatest inspirations in my life were teachers: Catherine Heitzman (reputed undefeated women's wrestler) from High Point Elementary and Anna Lee Tyler ("Don't be a vocabulary reader") from Ridgeview. Mr. Biggs ("Shame, shame, shame on you") was also a big inspiration, and I think knowing Eduardo Moga my senior year also fundamentally changed my life.
Military
Not much here. I used to play with GI Joes some as a kid. I have some cousins who were long long employees of the Pentagon when it got hit, 911. In North Carolina, I went to some anti-Iraq War (sorry to those who don't support this) demonstrations- was that action, "military?", but some of the protestors were such zealots, I was a little embarrassed. In retrospect, maybe I should have yelled a little louder, and jumped up and down a little harder myself.
