Jeff's Story
Well after I graduated from SDMA in 1973 and after summer was over in September of 1973 I went to Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington to be a musician singer as well as an organist etc. as well as being a music major there for about 4 to 5 years and as my parents aged and got older we all realized with plenty of trials and tribulations that I had a mild disability and so as the years drew on and so forth my sister and mom took me to Harbor Regional Center in Torrance for evaluation after my sister got me SSI Social Security Benefits and they gave me tests to see where I was with my disability and they discovered it was mild and I qualified for services there and I was trained to live on my own and as well as other services to see exactly what I needed. And after my mom died in 1993 I stopped going to school for a while and went to a special behavioral progam called CAP or Creative Arts Program in Long Beach cause I was having some behavioral as well as personal problems and this program really helped along with the private Psychotherapy that I was getting from a wonderful man whose office is located in Long Beach his name is Ed and he truly was someone who I felt that God sent to me for exactly what I needed and then 2 or so years later my dad finally died so now I felt pretty much that I was left on my own now so now I said well Jeff, it is up to you now you can now prove that you are a strong man while I was in this program and I met someone special at this program his name Is Bryan and he is now a wonderful part of my life now and we are like Brothers and he was having the same issues etc like I was and so we got t...Expand for more
ogether and we have been together now since 1995 and we both decided in approximately 2001 or 2002 that we have made progress and we have now outgrown the program so we both got out and got our lives going in a good way and I finally made the move to Long Beach after Wilmington and Torrance and I am now a part of another program that Harbor Regional Center started in the 90's called the Hope program where you can rent inexpensive housing for a low amount of rent and I am also receiving Social Security a pretty nice amount and I am now currently Going to Long Beach City College training to be a Choir Director Music Teacher as well as a voice Teacher now here in 2008. I am now 54 years old living each day one day at a time always with a postitive attitude each day and going to a great Church in Long Beach Ca. called Bethany Church. Singing in the choir doing solo work as well as every year I am always involved with our annual Christmas Joy program that we do every year. We do a different story with different script as well as different music every year. so our program consists of Drama as well as great Christmas music done in a beautiful way at my church. Wish you all could come to my Church and see our annual Christmas Joy program 2008 and see me now what I can do. Anyway that pretty much is the story of my life since graduating in 1973.
