Jeff's Story

After I dropped out of Murry Road, I finished high school at a redneck voc-tech called Green Joint Vocational Technical school in Xenia, Ohio in 1976. Moved to Maine, built my mom a house, and worked installing solar heat systems until 1982. I went to boatbuilding school, and worked on the coast of ME building boats, and doing marine diesel repair for a couple of years, and then got into home construction. Married Penny Stone, started Counter Culture Custom Cabinetry, and built a home in Raymond, ME in 1987. In 1997, I began building homes in Japan, for a company called TransNational, Inc., based out of Arlington, VA. I became VP of construction services for TNI, and worked there until my division was sold...Expand for more
to a company based out of Vancouver, WA. In 2000 I moved to Vancouver to run the export housing division, but the company's Japanese backers pulled their financing, so the company went from 35 people, to 3 people overnight, and I was out on the street. I entered a BS in Environmental Science program at Western Washington University, and graduated with a BS Env. Sci, emphasis in marine ecology in 2003. I'm currently finishing my MS Env. Sci at Western, and teaching Marine and Fisheries Science ciriculum at the Northwest Indian Colleg in Bellingham, WA. My wife works as a naturalist on whale watch boats in Puget Sound. We have two cats, and no kids, and live on a very small island off the coast of Washington.
