Jeff's Story

Well, lot's of time has passed since high school and my Army days. Now I'm an old married guy. I've been married to the same great lady, Jennifer, going on 17 years. I'm father to a 15 year old son, 10 year old twin daugters, and a 7 year old daughter. Right after high school, I went into the Army. I went through basic training and advanced infantry training at Ft. Benning, GA. I also went through jump school there. I was assigned to the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC. I transfered from there to Ft. Lewis in 1986, and in 1988, I was sent to the Camp Libertybell, S. Korea right on the DMZ until I got out in 1989. My great accomplishments in the Army were graduating jump school, driving dune buggies at Ft. Lewis, earning my Expert Infantry Badge, and graduating second in my class from Sniper School. Fortunately, I never saw combat. However, I would still go fight today for freedom and country if needed me, (and if they took old fat guys). I am very greatful to our fighting men and women serving us right now, and for those who went before them. I went to Centralia College and got a degree in forestry after the Army. I was hired on as the Raw Materials Purchaser for Sherwood Forest Farms, a local Christmas Greens company. I worked my way up to Operations Manager, and left there after nearly 11 years in 2001. Since then I have been self-employed as a General Contractor specializing in dirt work, landscaping, and other custom tractor work. This has been a challenging career move, but rewarding in many ways. At thisa time, I am...Expand for more
looking for a new career. I love to fish for bass, especially smallmouth on the Columbia River and Riffe Lake. I am a member of the Lewis County Bass Club. I enjoy boating in general, and I still hunt and do a lot of shooting. I compete locally in the Bullseye Pistol League, where I have placed in first, second or third over the past three years. We home school our children, or should I say my wife does. This is a monumental task, but she does it with love and kindness, and she is very good at it. We already see the immense benifits from home schooling. I am so blessed to have a wife who is willing to go against the norm, and teach our children herself. Even though he is home schooled, my son plays sports for Centralia. He is a sophmore, but prides himself in making varsity in both football and wrestling. It is a joy to watch him do what he loves. He is, in my opinion, very good at sports. He is also just about to make Eagle Scout at 15 or 16 years old. This too, I am very proud of. My twin daugters are different like night and day, but they bring a great deal of joy into my life. They both passed hunter safety last year, and have one season of deer hunting behind them. Of course, my youngest daughter runs the whole family! She has a way of getting what she wants. We are a church going family, and we believe in God and the Bible, and that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour and we trust in Him for all that we do. I hope that you reading this will too. Thanks for visiting, God Bless, and hope to see you soon. Jeff
