Jeffrey's Story

Life After colleges worked in "Plastics". Ski & Sailing bum, lots of big boat ocean racing. Played guitar & bass in bands on LI, failed to become rock star. Met my wife Carol on a boat in Miami. Sailed together (L.I.Sound, Maine, Chesapeake, FL, Bermuda, Bahamas, Caribbean) full time. Married and moved to Annapolis, MD in 1977. Went to work at Naval Academy, coached varsity offshore sailing. Very short unpleasant America's Cup stint. Back to USNA. Then 12 years next door at Navy Lab doing R&D keeping submarines quiet. Very cool job at a great place. Went back to school & finished ME degree and then MS while working full time at the lab. Had a bout with cancer - beat it. At Navy HQ in DC managed Composite Materials then all non-metallic materials then moved to a new ship design ...Expand for more
team. Took up figure skating at 44 - more convenient than skiing. Retired from Navy June 09, working as defense contractor on Navy work. Founder of Eastport Yacht Club in Annapolis. Playing guitar solo there about twice a month. Married my best friend. Done some travelling - lots of sailing, 6-week motorhome cross country. Have 1 daughter Elizabeth grad from Sweet Briar College with BS in Bio. Worked in horse industry, 2-yrs as stable mgr at Goucher College in Baltimore. Looking for corp work in vet/medical equipment. I don't do horses but Carol does. We did a great job with the kid, she's a good person, fun and sincere. She said, "Daddy, you need a 3-3." What's a 3-3, I asked. "Well, you're too fat for a tutu!" Retirement plans to sail Caribbean. Coming not soon enough.
