When I left Norwalk High in Jan 1972, we moved to Fort Dodge, IA. Dad had changed jobs and we had to move along. A shame in a way, I had only one semester to go before graduating. I finished up that semester, then straight to Hannibal, MO to start college. After one year, I transferred to Southwest Baptist College (now a University) which is in Bolivar, Mo. Got a general arts degree in Dec 1977. That was a struggle for me. Too many problems some of them with the college itself, a few with a tiny handful of classmates. But it was also a trying time- a war raging and losing, patirotic values flying in the face of failing factories which could not keep up with the rest of the world. I could not find work, I would soon return home after finishing. Mom and Dad did continue to move every few years anyway. Comes with his occupation which was in radio broadcasting/country music production. By the time I finished college, they had lived in Wichita, KS, Fargo, ND, Mason City, IA and esp. Spencer, IA --just to name a few places. I can't remember all of them without digging up my old report cards. I have all of them. Finishing college, I went to Spencer, IA to be close to home. I went into electronic repair which I still do to this day. I worked at a small repair shop there and did some side work at home until the economic conditions of the day forced me to move. I went West. To Idaho, mostly Pocatello/Chubbuck and Boise/Meridian. I worked as a studio engineer at a now defunct radio station in Chubbuck for 2 yrs. Then to Meridian, worked all night shift at another station doing mostly live on the air work. That one is still on-air. But it was a temporary job and soon I would be moving again. Now life would settle down for me. Coming to California in 1985, I must have found roots as I lived in the same place for 20 yrs, then the freeway came and tore it down. That was a shame as I really fell in love with the place. A few miles outside of Fresno, surrounded at first by land being actively farmed. Progress came, the farms would one by one close and fields go barren. Soon to be surrounded by meadows. Then a freeway cuts right thru at least I got about $5000 from the government for the trouble. But same job since a few months after arrival, worked there until mid Jan repairing vintage and antique electronics, but also an increasing bit of newer gear as well. Mostly musical...Expand for more
